OAP Brutally Knocked Into Ditch in Shocking Solihull Hit-and-Run
White Car Rams Elderly Cyclist in Broad Daylight
It was just before 4.30pm on Saturday 7 May when an 81-year-old cyclist was deliberately hit by a small white car on Warings Green Road, Solihull. The violent collision sent the pensioner flying into a roadside ditch.
Three masked men leapt out of the vehicle. One made off on a blue Trek FS4 Firefly bike — reportedly bought only a week prior. The victim suffered severe bruising to his legs and face, along with a broken wrist. He was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Police Hunt Masked Attackers and Stolen Bike
West Midlands Police are combing CCTV footage, hoping to track down the attackers. Officers urge anyone offered a similar bike for sale — or who knows someone with a matching blue Trek FS4 Firefly — to come forward. They’re also asking motorists and cyclists in the area at the time to check dash-cam or helmet cam footage for the white car.
Detective Pleads for Witnesses
“The victim initially overtook the white car but shortly afterwards it pulled up in front of him and three men wearing masks got out,” Detective Constable David Spencer said. “He tried to cycle off but was rammed into a ditch. He suffered nasty injuries but it could have been much worse.”
“This is a despicable offence. The victim could have been one of your elderly relatives. Please do the right thing and drop us a line. You can remain anonymous — we just want to find who is responsible.”
