Man Dies in Collision with Police Car on South Coast Road
A tragic crash involving a police vehicle claimed the life of a 27-year-old man late Saturday night.
Serious Crash Near Dorothy Avenue
The incident happened just after 11:10pm on April 30th near the junction of Dorothy Avenue. Emergency services rushed to the scene after the man suffered serious injuries when he collided with a marked police car. Despite desperate efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
IOPC Launches Independent Investigation
Because a police vehicle was involved, the case has been handed over to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) for a thorough probe.
Road Closures and Police Statement
- A section of the A259 South Coast Road was shut both ways but has since reopened.
- The junction with Bramber Avenue remains closed as the investigation continues.
Chief Superintendent Jo Banks said: “This is a tragic incident and we are fully supporting the IOPC investigation. We want to thank drivers and residents for their patience while the A259 South Coast Road was closed.”
