Blackburn Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Late-Night BMW Smash

Police rushed to Preston New Road near the BP Petrol Station on Friday night after a black BMW 3 Series hit a 52-year-old pedestrian from Blackburn. The car then smashed into a fence on the petrol station forecourt.

Injured Man Rushed to Hospital

The pedestrian suffered serious chest injuries but is not believed to be in life-threatening condition. He was taken straight to Royal Preston Hospital for urgent treatment.

Driver Questioned as Police Hunt Witnesses

The BMW driver, a 21-year-old man from Blackburn, was spoken to at the scene and will be re-interviewed. Police want to trace the car’s movements before the crash and are appealing for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from Montague Street or Preston New Road towards Barbara Castle Way to come forward.

PC David Todhunter said: “A pedestrian has been left badly injured and we want to establish exactly what happened. We are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with footage of the scene. Please get in touch if you can help.”
