Pedestrian critical after moped crash in South London

Police scrambled to Maple Road, SE20 at around 11:00am on Friday, 16 April after reports of a collision between a moped and a pedestrian.

Victim in critical condition

The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was rushed to a south London hospital where he remains in a critical state. His family have been informed.

Moped rider arrested at the scene

The 24-year-old moped rider stayed at the scene. He was arrested and taken to a local police station where he is currently in custody.

Witnesses urged to come forward

Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are now probing the crash. They want to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage.
