Woman Escapes Attack on Erleigh Road – Suspect Flees After Hauling Handbag Strap

Just before 9pm last Thursday, a 56-year-old woman had a frightful encounter on Erleigh Road, Reading. As she passed Reading Boys School, she noticed a man trailing her. Moments later, near the junction with Denmark Road, the man grabbed her handbag strap. She screamed, and he bolted.

No Injury, No Theft – But Police Urgently Want Leads

The victim was unhurt and did not lose her handbag. No violence was used during the ordeal. The suspect is described as a black man, medium build, about 5ft 6in tall. He wore a black quilted puffer jacket with the hood up and denim jeans.

Police Appeal: Witnesses Needed to Track Down Suspect

PC Adele Taylor from Reading Police Station urged anyone with information to come forward.
