A man has been arrested in east London on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, following a swift operation by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command (CTC).
The 27-year-old was detained just after 3pm on Friday, April 13. He is being held under the Terrorism Act and remains in custody at a south London police station.
Second Arrest Made in North London
In a related move, a 24-year-old woman was arrested at a north London address. She is suspected of holding information about terrorism and is in custody under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE).
Multiple Searches Underway
Police are searching the woman’s home and three other east London properties as the investigation continues. Officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command were backed up by local cops, the Territorial Support Group, and armed units during the arrests.
The Met says enquiries are ongoing as they crack down on potential terror threats.
