Man Arrested on Buckingham Palace Road Over Suspicious Items
Police swooped on Buckingham Palace Road after a man was spotted carrying suspicious items. The area is on lockdown as officers inspect the contents of his bag.
Road Closures and Bus Diversions in Victoria
The road is closed both ways near Eccleston Place. Specialist officers have joined the scene to help check the suspect items. Bus routes 11, 44, 170, 211, C1, and C10 are all diverted, missing stops at Victoria Station and Grosvenor Gardens.
Man Arrested on Drug Possession Suspicion
The Met Police said: “Officers were called at 8.25pm on Sunday, 12 January to reports of a man acting suspiciously near Buckingham Palace Road #Westminster. The man, believed to be in his late 50s, was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs.”
He was also found carrying suspicious items in his bag. Road closures remain as officers continue their investigation.
No Terror Link, Police Confirm
A Met Police update reassured the public: “While specialist officers continue to examine the items found in the man’s bag, there is no believed threat to the community.
The incident is not being treated as terror-related, but cordons and officers remain on site.
