Armed Police Slam into Crawley College After Gunshot Reports

Armed cops swooped on a Crawley college after multiple calls reported gunshots shortly after 3.10pm on Monday, 26 April. Just ten minutes later, an 18-year-old local lad was arrested on College Road and taken into custody.

A firearm and a knife were seized at the scene. Two college staff suffered minor injuries — though police confirm these were not from gunshots. Pupils and staff were quickly evacuated to safety while officers searched the premises.

Top Cop Urges Public to Help – Road Closures in Effect

Chief Superintendent Howard Hodges said: “We continue to have a large policing presence in Crawley and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Two staff members presented themselves to a walk-in centre with minor injuries.

No one else has reported injuries, but if you need medical help, contact ambulance services or speak to an officer on site. Police are cooperating with Counter Terrorism Policing South East. Roads near the college remain closed — the public is urged to steer clear.
