It gets worse: files on officers involved in complaints were nabbed, plus sensitive credit card details from a Police Federation conference in Leatherhead, Surrey, were left completely unprotected.

Police Federation chief John Apter is red-faced over the breach but insists the force takes data security seriously. The probe is ongoing, but it’s still unclear if the stolen info has been misused.
“We are taking this incident very seriously and are working with experts to strengthen our security,” said Apter.
If you think you’ve been affected, report it to Action Fraud for investigation.
