Two Teenagers Murdered in Shocking Greenwich Stabbings

Police are urgently appealing for witnesses after the brutal murder of two 16-year-old boys in Greenwich on Saturday, 26 November. The victims, Charlie Bartolo and Kearne Solanke, were fatally stabbed in separate attacks just a mile apart in Abbey Wood and Thamesmead.

Tragic Evening Rocks Local Communities

Deputy Borough Commander Detective Superintendent Richard Mcdonagh spoke near the scenes, describing the day as “extremely sad” for everyone living and working in Greenwich. He said:

“My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with their families and friends – and indeed with local people who are shocked and appalled by what has happened.”

Police responded quickly to distress calls around 5.10pm reporting injuries in Sewell Road, Abbey Wood, and Titmuss Avenue, Thamesmead. Sadly, both boys were found with stab wounds and later died at the scene.

Police Hunt Suspicious SUV in Ongoing Investigation

The murders are being treated as linked crimes by specialist homicide detectives from Lewisham. Mcdonagh urged locals to come forward with information, especially if they have seen a dark-coloured SUV or 4×4 with silver roof bars near the crime scenes in the days before the murders.

  • Witnesses or anyone with information about Charlie or Kearne should contact police on 101, quoting reference 4943/26nov.
  • Information can also be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

Protective Measures in Place as Investigation Continues

To help keep the community safe, a Section 60 authorisation allowing stop and search powers is in effect until 7am Monday 28 November in areas of SE2 and SE18. For updates, follow the @MPSGreenwich Twitter account.

Detectives promise to work tirelessly to bring justice for Charlie and Kearne, while supporting the grieving families through this devastating time.
