Police Hunt Volvo Linked to Fatal Shooting of Young Man in East London

Volvo Estate Found Abandoned After Night of Murder

Detectives probing the murder of Oluwamayowa Adeyemi, known as Samson, have released a photo of a key vehicle tied to the crime. The car, a large Volvo estate, was found dumped on Cowper Road, N16, just hours after the shooting on Friday night, 5 June.

The Volvo was recovered on the morning of Saturday, 6 June, bearing false plates reading EX18EXE. Police suspect it was used by the killers and may have had other plates beforehand. Despite being abandoned, the vehicle appeared undamaged but showed distinctive scuff marks on its front bumper and a taped-up passenger door mirror.

Victim Shot Dead in Brackenfield Close

Samson suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest after being shot at around 11.30pm on 5 June in Brackenfield Close, E5. Paramedics and officers rushed to the scene but the 22-year-old was pronounced dead there and then.

“This is a tragic incident that has left his family and friends devastated,” said Detective Chief Inspector Paul Considine, who is leading the inquiry from the Specialist Crime Command.

Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up

DI Considine appealed directly to the public: “If you’ve seen this Volvo or know who drives it, no matter how small the detail, get in touch. We also want to hear from anyone who witnessed the shooting or who has other relevant information.”
