Thieves Target Elderly Couple in Fareham – £1,000 Stolen in Daytime Snatch
Police are hunting a trio after two elderly victims, both in their 80s, were robbed in broad daylight in Fareham. Between midday and 12:35pm on Monday 3 June, an 88-year-old woman shopping in Thackeray Mall had her purse stolen from her bag. Her bank card was then used to withdraw a whopping £500.
Just minutes later at around 1pm, an 87-year-old man was duped by a man and woman near West Street at Kings Road junction. The male suspect wrapped his arms around the pensioner, started a chat – and when the victim got home, he found £500 missing from his jacket pocket.
Thankfully, neither victim was hurt. Police are investigating whether the two thefts are linked and want to speak to three people seen nearby at the time.
