Man Hospitalised After Early Morning Shooting in Brixton

A 44-year-old man suffered potentially life-altering injuries in a shooting on Coldharbour Lane, Brixton, just after midnight on Wednesday, 7 August.

Gunfire Rocks Brixton: Multiple Shots Fired

Police rushed to the scene at 12:22am following reports of gunfire. Officers from the Metropolitan Police and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service found the victim with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to a nearby hospital where his condition was described as non-life-threatening but potentially life-changing.

Emergency teams recovered several shell casings on Coldharbour Lane, confirming multiple shots were fired in the attack.

Investigation Underway as Police Hunt Shooter

The Met have not made any arrests yet. A crime scene remains in place, with detectives from Specialist Crime (Trident) leading the inquiry.

Detectives are urging witnesses and anyone with video footage to come forward. People with information are asked to call 101 or contact the police via Twitter @MetCC, quoting reference CAD 125/7 Aug.

Locals in Brixton have voiced fears over safety following the violent incident. Community leader Sandra Williams said, “This kind of violence is deeply troubling for our community. We need more support from the authorities to ensure our streets are safe for everyone.”

Businesses along Coldharbour Lane are also worried about the impact on trade, fearing customers may stay away due to safety concerns.

The Metropolitan Police have promised increased patrols and are doing “everything possible” to catch those responsible and prevent further violence.
