Car thieves caught red-handed with cannabis stash in Nottingham
Honda Civic stolen from New Basford
The owner of a Honda Civic dialled 999 just after 8pm on Wednesday, 15 February, after spotting their car missing from Nottingham Road, New Basford.
CCTV leads cops to suspects
Police combed through CCTV and identified four men linked to the theft. Then, before 9.30pm, officers were tipped off that the suspects had returned in another vehicle parked on Malton Road.
Five suspects nabbed with drugs and cash
When police arrived, they found five men inside the car. Alongside them was a large bag of cannabis and a stash of cash.
- Four men, aged 18, 29, 30, and 32, were arrested for theft of a motor vehicle and possession with intent to supply class B drugs.
- The fifth man, 30, was detained on suspicion of drug offences only.
Police issue tough warning
Detective Constable Ben Grayson of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Officers responded quickly to this report and five suspects were soon in custody. These offences will not be tolerated and our inquiries are ongoing.”
