Man Bailed After Hackney Murder Probe

A 26-year-old man has been released on bail by detectives investigating a deadly attack in Hackney.

Arrest Made Following Upper Clapton Street Death

The man was arrested after voluntarily attending an east London police station on Thursday, 5 April. He was questioned by homicide detectives from City of London Police before being bailed to a date in late April as enquiries continue.

Tragic Scene at Upper Clapton Road

  • Police rushed to a bookmakers on Upper Clapton Road at 4:27 pm on Wednesday, 4 April, after reports of a man found unconscious.
  • London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance attended but could not save the 53-year-old victim.
  • He was pronounced dead at the scene; next of kin have been informed.
  • A post-mortem is underway at Poplar Mortuary, with formal ID still pending.

The victim is thought to have had an altercation with another man who fled the scene. Detectives are working to uncover the full circumstances and motive behind the attack.
