Cashpoint Pulled From Petrol Station in Dead of Night

Shameless thieves struck early on Wednesday, May 1, ripping a free-standing cash machine from outside a petrol station on Rye Road, Hawkhurst. Kent Police were alerted around 1.20am after the brazen heist.

Land Rover Defender Used as Getaway Vehicle

Witnesses reported a Land Rover Defender with a white roof chained to the ATM and dragged it along the road towards Sussex. Police later found debris from the stolen cashpoint dumped in nearby Water Lane.

Serious Crime Team on the Case

Detectives from Kent and Essex’s Serious Crime Directorate are hunting the culprits. District Commander Chief Inspector Ray Quiller urged locals to speak up.

“We are appealing for witnesses who spotted anyone acting suspiciously in the area. We want to hear from anyone who saw the Land Rover coming into Hawkhurst, leaving along Rye Road, or near Water Lane.”
