Van Driver Assaulted Near Staplehurst in Shocking Road Rage Attack

Police have launched an urgent appeal after a motorist was reportedly assaulted by another driver near Staplehurst.

Driver Pinned and Pushed Backwards

The incident happened around 3pm on Sunday 8 March 2020. A man driving a white van along Cradducks Lane stopped at a narrow section when a cream-coloured 4×4 approached from the opposite direction.

Instead of passing safely, the 4×4 driver suddenly rammed into the van, pushing it backwards about 10 metres. The van driver got out, only to be pinned against his own vehicle when the other driver collided with him before speeding off towards Headcorn Road.

Victim Airlifted to London Hospital in Serious Condition

Emergency services airlifted the van driver to a London hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Detective Sergeant Tom Daveney of Maidstone CID urged witnesses to come forward:

“We want to hear from anyone who knows the driver of the four-wheel-drive or saw it in Staplehurst around the time of the incident. Dash cam footage from local motorists would be invaluable.”
