Teacher’s Body Found, Man Sought in Linked Hunt Near Glasgow
Tragic Discovery in Jura Street
The body of primary school teacher Marelle Sturrock was found Tuesday morning at a property on Jura Street in Glasgow. Police quickly launched a search for a man linked to the case, taking them to Mugdock Country Park in East Dunbartonshire, about nine miles away.
Police Confirm Cases Linked, Public Safe
Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Kelly confirmed the two investigations are connected but reassured the public there’s no threat to wider safety. “Enquiries remain ongoing,” she said. DCI Kelly added: “Our thoughts are with Marelle’s family and friends during this tragic time. We are supporting them fully.”
Marelle: Beloved Teacher and Highlander
Marelle Sturrock was a well-loved figure at her school, having taught multiple year groups over more than six years. Headteacher Fiona Donnelly said:
“Marelle was a lovely, kind, diligent and considerate person who made time for everyone. We will all miss her so much.”
Originally from the Scottish Highlands, Marelle moved to Glasgow at 17 to chase a career in the performing arts. She later gained a postgraduate diploma in education and became a primary school teacher.
