Second Man Arrested Over Pensioner’s Murder in Dungannon

Tragic Scene in County Tyrone

A second man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a pensioner in his 70s in Dungannon, County Tyrone. The elderly victim was found seriously injured in his flat at Corrainey Park, Lisnahull Estate.

The incident occurred at around 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 29, 2025. Despite swift emergency response, the man sadly died from his injuries.

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received the call at 8:13 PM and dispatched a rapid response paramedic, two emergency crews, and an advanced paramedic to the address.

Despite their best efforts, the victim could not be saved. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) immediately launched a murder investigation.

Two Men Held as Police Probe Deepens

  • A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and other offences earlier in the investigation.
  • A second man, reportedly originally from Poland but living in Dungannon for over 20 years, was arrested on Saturday and is currently in police custody.

PSNI Superintendent Peter Stevenson said the victim was found seriously injured on the living room floor of his flat.

Community in Shock as Vigil Held

More than 100 mourners gathered for a vigil outside the victim’s home, leaving candles and tributes on the pavement. Locals expressed their shock and grief at the brutal attack.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information about the attack to come forward.
