The chaos began around 2:20 AM near 254 Broadway when the suspect set a marked NYPD emergency vehicle ablaze. Just 15 minutes later, at 2:35 AM, another fire was started near 14 Murray Street, this time damaging a parked civilian car. Both acts were deliberate and caught residents off guard.
Subway Terror: Fires Spread Underground
The arsonist didn’t stop there. By 2:55 AM, the suspect reached the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall subway station, where they hurled a flaming paper cup into a garbage bin. This reckless stunt put subway commuters and transit workers at serious risk.
Alarm on the J Train: Passenger’s Life at Risk
The most chilling moment came at 3:40 AM on a northbound J train at Woodhaven Boulevard station. The suspect lit a pile of rubbish next to a sleeping passenger and vanished on foot. Miraculously, no one was hurt during any of the attacks.
