Four Injured in Horror Hemmingway Explosion
Four people were hurt after a massive explosion ripped through a home in Hemmingway, Worcestershire, on Tuesday evening. One man is in critical condition.
Emergency Services Race to Scene
The blast tore through a house on Fairfield Estate at around 5 p.m., leaving the property destroyed with rubble and debris everywhere. The roof collapsed, burying the downstairs area in wreckage.
Firefighters, paramedics, and specialist teams rushed in fast. Crews included:
- Three ambulances
- Five paramedic officers
- Hazardous Area Response Team
- Midlands Air Ambulance crew from Strensham
- Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car
- Merit trauma doctor and critical care paramedic
- Emergency planning officer and emergency doctor
Casualties and Hospital Updates
West Midlands Ambulance confirmed three people from the house were treated at the scene. The most seriously injured man was airlifted on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham with critical care paramedics attending him.
Two others – a man and a woman – suffered less serious injuries and were taken to Hereford County Hospital. A fourth man was treated for injuries on-site and later taken to Hereford as a precaution.
Safety Precautions and Police Appeal
Police evacuated ten nearby homes and sealed off the estate with road closures still in place as they continue investigating.
“Four people have been injured following a suspected gas explosion in Evesham, Worcestershire, this evening,” a West Mercia Police spokesperson said. “We ask everyone to avoid the area while emergency services respond. Thank you for your understanding.”
