Shotgun Fired at Car on Essex Road – Suspect on the Run
Police scrambled to High Road near Emberson Way around 1am on Sunday 12 February after reports of a shotgun being fired at a car.
The suspect tried to escape on a moped — but it wouldn’t start. He then bolted on foot.
Moped Recovered as Police Launch Manhunt
Officers recovered the abandoned moped and called in crime scene investigators and specialist search dogs. They scoured the area all day, diving deep into the investigation.

Police are now hunting a moped rider seen in the area at the time. Witnesses describe them wearing a black and white motorbike helmet, a white and light blue (or turquoise/teal) ski jacket, and red gloves.
It’s believed this rider may have even flagged down a passing motorist, asking for a lift.
Police Urge Locals to Check Gardens for Clues
Residents in High Road, Emberson Way, and surrounding streets are being asked to check their gardens for any discarded clothing items tied to the suspect.
