Brutal Metal Bar Attack on Cyclist in Bootle

Police are hunting two men after an 18-year-old cyclist was violently assaulted near Myerscough Avenue and Southport Road, Bootle, at around 9pm on Friday, 3rd February.

Men in ‘Highway Maintenance’ Van Launch Attack

The victim had stopped his bike by an electricity substation when two white men in their mid-20s jumped out of a white van marked “Highway Maintenance.” Armed with a metal bar, they launched a savage attack, leaving the young man with a broken jaw requiring surgery.

Police Launch House-to-House and CCTV Probe

Detective Inspector Jay Halpin condemned the unprovoked assault. He said, “This was a shocking attack which caused serious facial injuries.”

Officers have started house-to-house enquiries and are scouring CCTV footage in the area. DI Halpin urged eyewitnesses and nearby taxi or delivery drivers to check dash cams for any footage.
