Young Delivery Rider Killed After Hit-and-Run as Drill Star Shot Dead on Same Street

Tragedy on Railton Road

Guilherme Messias da Silva, 21, was finishing his last delivery of the night when disaster struck. Two cars sped down Railton Road, and one slammed into his motorbike. Moments later, drill musician Lamar Scott, 27, known as Perm, jumped from the car that hit Guilherme—and was fatally shot at around 7.50pm on Sunday.

Family Devastated Across the Globe

Guilherme’s mother, Rosângela Messias de Sousa, 46, spoke from her home in Brazil: “I plunged into despair, shouted, fainted. It’s heartbreaking; my heart is bleeding. Everything hurts.” She described her son as “joyous, outgoing, and smiling” to TV station G1 Goias.

Despite the distance, Ms De Sousa tried to stay close with daily calls to her son, who moved to the UK two years ago. Their morning conversation on Sunday was cut short by poor signal, and she soon learned of his death from close friends.

The family now faces the costly ordeal of bringing Guilherme’s body home to Petrolina de Goias, near Brazil’s capital, Brasilia.

Stepfather’s Heartbreak and Musical Connections

Stepfather Cirilo Antonio Machado, 66, told reporters, “They attacked him as he tried to escape.” He called Guilherme “courteous, sweet, full of friends, and hardworking.”

Lamar Scott was connected to the ClapTown rap group, known for clashes with rival gangs. He was also a promoter for boxer Dean Whyte, brother of heavyweight Dillian Whyte, who recently lost to Tyson Fury at Wembley.

Dillian Whyte paid tribute to Scott on Instagram yesterday.

Wave of Gang Violence Shocks London

  • The deaths come just five days after two young men were shot dead in an Ilford house.
  • In July, three men were killed by gunfire over six days.
  • Before these recent shootings, London had gone nine months with no gun deaths since last October 31.

A Deliveroo spokesperson slammed the violence: “We are astounded and appalled that such heinous crimes could occur in one of our local towns. We pledge to assist authorities in any way we can.”
