Buzzard Shot and Killed in Otham Street Garden

A shocking wildlife attack unfolded on Friday afternoon when a buzzard was found shot and wounded in a garden on Otham Street.

Bird Suffers Fatal Gunshot Wounds

At around 3:30pm on 3 February 2023, a member of the public spotted the injured buzzard. Despite being rushed to a veterinary clinic, vets had no choice but to euthanise the bird due to the severity of its injuries.

Police Launch Investigation into Protected Bird Shooting

The buzzard is protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, and police are taking this crime seriously. Sgt Darren Walshaw said,

“We are investigating this incident with colleagues and suspect the bird was shot. We understand there were several people nearby, including walkers, residents in their gardens, and two people on a roof. We urge anyone with information to come forward.”
