Romesh Ranganathan Returns to Host The Weakest Link with Star-Studded Celeb Lineup

The hit quiz show The Weakest Link is back, and this time it’s packed with celebrity contestants battling for up to £50,000 in charity cash. Contestants face tough general knowledge questions, whittle down to just two, then go head-to-head for the win.

Record-Breaking Ratings for Romesh’s Comeback

The show made a smashing return in 2021 with comedian Romesh Ranganathan taking the reins. It pulled in massive audiences, hitting 18.4 million viewers overall and peaking at 5.3 million for the Strictly Come Dancing special — proof the nation can’t get enough of the quick-witted quiz and cheeky banter.

“I’m delighted to be doing another series, partly because it’s a fun show and the response has been amazing, but mostly to avoid ‘Turns out Romesh was The Weakest Link’ headlines,” said Romesh with his trademark humour.

More Laughs, More Backstabbing, More Drama

BBC’s Kate Phillips, Director of Unscripted, promises plenty more laughs and “loads of backstabbing” as Romesh leads the charge once more. Executive Producer Pete Ogden added:

“It was fantastic to see the previous series perform so well with viewers, and there’s nothing we enjoy more than putting celebrities under pressure and forcing them to vote each other out. Romesh is a joy to work with, and I can’t wait to put him in front of another group of celebrities.”

Filming in Glasgow – Tune In 2022

The new series will be filmed at BBC Pacific Quay, Glasgow, and is set to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2022. Get ready for sharp wits, sharp tongues, and of course, the famous final catchphrase: “You are the Weakest Link, goodbye!”
