Three Arrested in Sevenoaks Cash Machine Scam
Three suspects have been busted after targeting elderly people at cash machines in Sevenoaks. The crooks tried a classic distraction theft but ended up caught thanks to a sharp-eyed witness and a police helicopter tailing their getaway car.
Helicopter Tracks Suspects from Bank to Surrey
Kent Police were called on the morning of Tuesday 15 March after a man and woman approached a 70-something victim at a cash machine on Sevenoaks High Street. The woman, reportedly flaunting a lanyard and claiming to work for the bank, raised suspicions.
A witness intervened, alerting police who quickly identified the suspects’ vehicle—a blue Ford Focus linked to previous scams in the area. The police helicopter tracked the car from Sevenoaks all the way to a car park in Warlingham, Surrey.
High-Speed Chase Ends with Triple Arrest
- The driver fled on foot, scaling a fence onto railway tracks, but was caught hiding in a nearby shed.
- Two women found inside the car were also arrested.
- A suspected cloned number plate was recovered, along with ten phones and over £1,000 in cash during searches at suspects’ addresses in Beckton, London.
The man (37) and two women (30 and 32) have been bailed. They face further police questioning on 12 April.

Detective Constable Tony Hatcher of West Kent CID said: “We’re carrying out a thorough investigation into these suspects. There may be other offences we don’t know about yet. If you’ve seen anything dodgy at cash machines around Sevenoaks recently, please get in touch.”
