Emergency crews raced to Little Eden Holiday Park on Bridlington Bay Road on Wednesday, 18 February, after alarm bells rang over safety concerns. Inside one rental, they made a grim discovery: a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy had died in tragic circumstances.
Man Arrested Over Suspected Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
Northbank Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Matt Peach confirmed a 33-year-old man is in custody, arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. Authorities suspect carbon monoxide poisoning may be involved, but the exact cause of death is still unclear.
Ongoing Investigation and Support for Heartbroken Families
“This is incredibly distressing and heartbreaking for the families,” said Chief Superintendent Peach.
Specially trained officers have been offering support to the relatives since the tragedy emerged. Police have taped off the area and are working closely with the Fire Service, Health and Safety Executive, and local council to get to the bottom of what happened.
Community Told to Respect Privacy and Stay Vigilant
All other holiday park homes have been checked, and residents received vital safety advice. Chief Superintendent Peach acknowledged the community’s shock and vowed a strong police presence going forward.
The public is urged to avoid speculation and give grieving families space during this heartbreaking time.
