Two Arrested After Broad Daylight Stabbing Shuts Down Peckham Streets
Chaos erupted in Peckham on Friday afternoon after a man was stabbed in broad daylight. The shocking attack took place around 1pm at the busy junction of Peckham High Street and Rye Lane, sparking a major police response.
Roads and Bus Routes Shut Amid Police Investigation
Officers quickly sealed off the area with a large police cordon. Both directions of Peckham High Street, Peckham Hill Street, and Rye Lane have been closed to traffic. Multiple police cars and officers swarmed the scene as they launched their probe.
The closures are wreaking havoc on local transport. Bus services 12, 36, 37, 63, 78, 136, 171, 177, 197, 343, 345, 363, 381, 436, P12, and P13 are all affected by the ongoing disruption.
Victim Rushed to Hospital, Condition Stable
A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 12:57pm on Friday, 2 December to reports of a stabbing at the junction of Peckham High Street and Rye Lane, SE15.”
Paramedics were on scene quickly. The victim, a 19-year-old man, was rushed to hospital with a stab wound. Thankfully, his injuries are not life-threatening.
Two Men Held in Custody
Police have arrested two men in connection with the attack. Both suspects remain in custody as inquiries continue.
