Peugeot Van Theft Sparks High-Speed Pursuit in Everton
Two men have been arrested following the early morning theft of a Peugeot van in Everton on Saturday, 15 May. Police were alerted at 5.30am after reports the van was stolen from a driveway on Gleave Crescent.
Five-Minute Chase Ends in Stanley Park
The stolen van was spotted later that morning. Officers gave chase through Anfield for around five minutes before the pursuit ended safely in Stanley Park. The suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
A 20-minute foot chase ended with police catching the two men on Kemp Avenue.
Two Arrested for Vehicle Theft
The suspects, a 17-year-old from Everton and an 18-year-old from Crosby, were arrested on suspicion of motor vehicle theft and taken in for questioning.
Detective Inspector Ben Dyer said: “This incident was a brazen act, and I hope that our officers detaining the two suspects shows how seriously we take the theft of motor vehicles.”
“The commitment and dedication of our officers yesterday shows that we will do everything in our power – in car and on foot – to stop people from blighting our roads and communities in this way. We are pleased to have returned the vehicle to its owner safely.”
