RAF Jets Scramble to Intercept Mystery Private Jet Over UK
An RAF fighter jet was launched in a high-alert police operation after a private plane lost contact with air traffic control over southern England.
Bombardier Global Express Loses Contact
The Bombardier Global Express took off from Nuremberg, Germany just before 11am on Tuesday. Shortly after, it lost all communications with controllers, triggering an immediate scramble of RAF fighters.
Jets Escort Flight Near Biggin Hill
The RAF jets intercepted the corporate jet about 10 miles east of Biggin Hill, guiding it safely towards London Stansted Airport.
Safe Landing and Ongoing Investigation
The private plane, carrying three crew members, landed safely at Stansted at 1:45pm. A Metropolitan Police helicopter, which had been shadowing the flight, touched down on the runway.
Met Police officers are investigating the communication loss. Officials have yet to release a statement.
