Heartless Thieves Swipe Paramedic’s Life-Saving Bike
An emergency care assistant had his only mode of transport stolen while he was out saving lives for the South Central Ambulance Service in Portsmouth. The victim, Rob, was responding to 999 calls when thieves struck at the ambulance station.
Bold Daylight Theft Caught on Eyewitness
The bike, a unique custom-built NS Soda, was taken by one male who used bolt cutters to snip through a padlock. He then passed the bike over a fence to two accomplices waiting outside. A Tesco van driver spotted the theft and tried to stop the trio, but they managed to escape.
The theft took place between 8.30pm and 9pm. For Rob, this wasn’t just any bike — it was his only way to get to and from work. With his shift patterns and limited public transport options, losing the bike hit him hard.
Public Rallies to Replace Life-Saving Bike
South Central Ambulance Service launched an appeal to find the stolen bike. The response has been overwhelming. Locals have flooded in with offers to donate small amounts to help Rob replace his vital transport.
“I am very humbled by the kind offers of donations,” Rob said. “I cannot afford to replace the bike on my own but obviously need to have transport for work. Public transport isn’t always an option with my shifts. If people want to donate towards a replacement, donations can be made via this site. Thank you.”
Police Urge Public to Help Catch Thieves
Hampshire Police are treating the incident seriously and are investigating the robbery (reference no. 44180180218). They are urging anyone who might be offered the bike for sale to come forward immediately.
Rob’s bike isn’t just metal and wheels — it’s a life-saving tool. Let’s help catch these criminals and get his wheels back on the road.
