Massive Blaze Erupts at Isle of Wight Solar Farm
Firefighters from three stations raced to tackle a huge fire at a solar farm in St Helen, near Bembridge, this afternoon. The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were alerted just after 12.30pm.
Crews Battle Fierce Flames and Thick Smoke
Teams are battling the blaze using two hose reels and a main jet, as thick smoke billows high into the sky. Backup arrived from Hampshire Fire and Rescue, who were scrambled to assist Island crews under the newly declared code black.
No Injuries Reported So Far
Officials say no one has been hurt in the massive fire on the solar farm. More updates to follow as the situation develops.
