Tragic Aintree Shooting Claims Life of Teen Ellis Cox

A deadly shooting rocked the Liver Industrial Estate in Aintree, Merseyside, on June 23. Nineteen-year-old Ellis Cox was killed in the incident, police have confirmed.

A second 19-year-old victim was injured, shot in the foot. He later self-presented at hospital and has since been discharged.

Two Men Arrested Over Murder and Gun Charges

Police have arrested two men in connection with the shooting. A 34-year-old from liverpool/" title="Liverpool" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Liverpool faces charges of murder and firearm possession without a certificate.

A 61-year-old from Huyton has been arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, possession of cannabis (Class B), and firearm possession without a certificate.

Victim’s Family Mourns “Best Son and Friend”

Ellis Cox’s family described him as “the best son, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle, grandson and friend you could ever hope for.”

Ellis had borrowed a bicycle and was on his way to meet friends at Aintree Station after spending the day in Southport. The tragedy struck as the group returned through the industrial estate.

Police Appeal for Witnesses to Come Forward

Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath thanked the community for their support but stressed the need for more information. “We’re continuing to appeal for any information from anyone who is yet to come forward, the smallest detail could be vital to our inquiries,” he said.

He urged friends who were present during the incident to find the courage to assist the police further.
