Two Men Arrested in West London Terror Probe
Two young men, aged 21 and 19, were snapped up by police early Tuesday morning (16 November 2021) under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000. Cops are still combing through their west London pad for evidence.
No Immediate Danger to Public, Say Police
Commander Richard Smith of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command reassured the public: “Based on enquiries so far, there is no believed immediate threat to the public. The suspects remain in custody.”
He added the UK’s terror threat level has been bumped from substantial to severe after recent events in Merseyside, urging everyone to work together to fight terrorism.
Police Urge Public to Stay Vigilant
“The public are our eyes and ears,” said Commander Smith. “If you see or hear something suspicious, don’t hesitate to report it. Your tip could stop a terrorist attack.”
He stressed that counter-terror teams work around the clock to identify and tackle terror threats nationwide.
Not Linked to Liverpool Women’s Hospital Attack
Officers were quick to confirm today’s arrests have no connection to the Liverpool Women’s Hospital incident.
