Two Brits Killed in Horror Helicopter Crash on Aussie Gold Coast

Tragedy struck near Seaworld Drive in Main Beach when two helicopters collided mid-air. Among the four victims were British tourists Ron Hughes, 65, and Diane Hughes, 57, visiting Down Under. The crash also claimed the lives of 36-year-old Vanessa Tadros and pilot Ash Jenkinson, 40.

Mid-Air Collision During Landing and Takeoff

Queensland Police revealed the fatal incident happened around 2pm as one chopper was landing and the other taking off. The two aircraft “came into contact with each other,” causing one to crash fatally while the other managed a safe landing.

Survivors Injured but Stable

  • The second helicopter carried six passengers.
  • Five suffered minor injuries and were rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital.
  • One passenger escaped unscathed.

The cause of the collision is under investigation. Authorities continue to appeal for witnesses.
