Two More Arrested Over Essex Lorry Tragedy
Police have arrested two more suspects in connection with the deaths of 39 people found in a lorry container in Essex. The new arrests are a 38-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman from Warrington. Both face charges including conspiracy to traffic people and 39 counts of manslaughter.
Cheshire Property Raided in Haulage Boss Probe
Officers have executed warrants at two properties in Cheshire, including a £400,000 home believed to belong to the couple. It’s understood the pair are a haulage boss and his wife, who claimed to have sold the lorry several months ago. Both remain in custody alongside the 25-year-old lorry driver, arrested at the Grays scene on suspicion of murder.
Victims Moved Amid Ongoing Post-Mortems
Last night, authorities began transferring the victims from the Port of Tilbury to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford for post-mortem examinations. Police stressed the importance of dignity and respect for the victims and their families. The first post-mortems started on Friday, with formal identification expected to take time as the coronial investigation continues.
The inquiry remains active, and police say the information around identification may evolve. Updates will be issued in coordination with HM Coroner as the case develops.
