Man Seriously Assaulted in Newport – Five Arrested, Two for Attempted Murder
Police rushed to Caesars Road, Newport, in the early hours of Sunday morning after reports of a serious assault. At 2.07am, officers found a 49-year-old man badly injured and receiving emergency treatment.
Victim Undergoing Surgery After Brutal Attack
The man was quickly taken to St Mary’s Hospital, where he is now undergoing surgery.
Five Arrests Made – Two Facing Attempted Murder Charges
- A 41-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man, both from Newport, are held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
- A 41-year-old Newport man faces charges of grievous bodily harm with intent to resist or prevent arrest.
- A 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, both from Newport, are arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
All five suspects remain in police custody pending further investigation.
Police Continue Investigation, No One Else Sought
Officers believe all parties know each other and are not looking for anyone else,” said a Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson. “We will be in the area today carrying out enquiries. If anyone has information, please come and speak to us.”
