Woman Arrested After Newborn Baby Found Dead in Bag Outside Notting Hill Church

A woman in her 30s was arrested following the grim discovery of a newborn baby’s body in a Marks & Spencer bag outside All Saints’ Church in Notting Hill, west London.

Disturbing Find Shakes Notting Hill Community

The heartbreaking discovery was made last Tuesday by a council worker. The tiny baby boy’s body was hidden in the supermarket carrier left near the church.

The Metropolitan Police swung into action immediately, launching a fast-moving investigation. By Saturday, officers had located and arrested the woman on suspicion of concealing birth, neglect, and infanticide.

Suspect in Hospital as Investigation Continues

Following her arrest, the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care and remains under observation. Police believe she is the child’s mother.

A post-mortem is set for later this week to determine how the baby died. Detectives are keeping an open mind about what happened and are following all leads.

Police Speak Out

Superintendent Owen Renowden, in charge of Kensington and Chelsea policing, said:

“This is an ongoing, fast-paced investigation, with officers working tirelessly to ascertain the circumstances of the baby boy’s death.

We believe that the woman is the baby’s mother, and I am reassured that she is receiving the support she needs while officers continue their work to understand what took place.”

Local Community in Shock

The tragic news has rocked the Notting Hill community. Floral tributes have been left outside All Saints’ Church as neighbours come to terms with the shocking find.

Superintendent Renowden added: “We recognize that this news may cause concern among our community, but our priority remains the welfare of all involved and ensuring that every line of enquiry is explored.”

Police Appeal for Help

Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward. Residents are encouraged to provide any details that could shed light on the tragic events.

The investigation is ongoing. Further updates will be released as the inquiry progresses.
