Two Teens Dead After Horror Northumberland Crash
Tragedy hit Northumberland as two teenagers died and three others were rushed to hospital after a three-car smash on the A192 Hartford Bank in Cramlington.
Deadly Collision on A192
The crash happened late Friday, December 22 at around 9:30 PM. A Suzuki Vitara, Range Rover Evoque, and Ford Focus collided on the busy road. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, where paramedics and bystanders fought to save lives.
Connor Lapworth, 18, the Suzuki driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. Fifteen-year-old Corey Mavin, also in the Suzuki, suffered serious head injuries and died the following day.
Families Supported as Police Appeal for Witnesses
Specialist Family Liaison Officers are supporting the victims’ families during this dark time. Two other Suzuki passengers—a 41-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy—were seriously hurt and remain in hospital.
The 36-year-old Range Rover driver suffered serious injuries and is also being treated. The Ford Focus driver, a 52-year-old woman, escaped unscathed.
Police Urge Public to Come Forward
Northumbria Police have launched a witness appeal. Sergeant Russell Surrey from the Motor Patrols department said:
“This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the families of the two young people who have sadly lost their lives and those injured.”
“We are offering all the support they need and ask for their privacy to be respected. Anyone who saw the collision or the three vehicles driving in the area at the time must contact us immediately.”
Police are urging drivers with dashcam footage from the area to step forward, as even small details could help piece together what happened in this fatal wreck.
