Police Fear Rising Violence After Zara Aleena Murder

“I know that this attack on a woman, coming so soon after the tragic murder of Zara Aleena, will be of great concern to Londoners, particularly those in Ilford,” said Chief Inspector Chris Byrne. “My colleagues and I share those concerns, and we are doing everything in our power to keep people safe.”

“We are determined to identify and apprehend this individual. Our investigation includes a search of CCTV in the area. Local people will have seen more police officers in Ilford since Zara Aleena’s murder two weeks ago. We’ve deployed extra officers, including specialists tackling violent crime. We will keep officers visible and available in the coming days and over the weekend.”
