Shock in Yorkshire as two women found dead less than a mile apart
A Yorkshire community is reeling after two women were found dead in separate homes just hours apart. Both houses are less than a mile from each other in South Bank, Cleveland, sparking fear and confusion among residents. Police have arrested four suspects as the investigation ramps up.
First Body Discovered on Monday Evening
The grim discovery began Monday evening on Ajax Way, South Bank. Concerned locals called police, who found a deceased woman inside the property. The exact cause of death remains unclear as detectives launch a full inquiry.
Second Woman Found Dead the Next Morning
Just after 10:30am the following day, officers responded to a report of a sudden death at a nearby home on South Terrace, South Bank. Another woman was found lifeless, mere yards from the first location.
Four Arrested Over Suspected Poisoning
Police have detained four suspects — two men aged 47 and two others aged 39 and 43 — on suspicion of administering a noxious substance. All remain in custody while detectives conduct intense questioning.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson confirmed:
“Police were called to a property in Ajax Way on the evening of Monday, 18 September, following concerns for an occupant. Sadly, a woman’s body was found inside. The next morning, officers attended a report of a sudden death at a property on South Terrace where a second woman had passed away. We are treating both deaths as unexplained at this time.”
The victims have not yet been formally identified, but their families have been informed. Police continue piecing together how these tragedies connect as they maintain a strong presence in South Bank to support the shaken community.
