Bomb Squad Called as Suspicious Suitcases Spark Gatwick Lockdown
Chaos erupted at Gatwick Airport tonight after a car drove the wrong way on the perimeter service road. The driver ditched the vehicle, leaving behind two suitcases wired with orange cables, before sprinting into the terminal.
Sussex Police Descend, Terminal Locked Down
Sussex Police swiftly cordoned off the area and summoned bomb disposal experts to inspect the suspicious bags. The man was arrested on the spot, and an investigation is now underway.
To keep order, officers are directing cars at the drop-off zone to reverse and exit through the car park, causing more disruption for travellers.
Police Update: No Terror Link, Suspect in Custody
Sussex Police have now lifted the cordon around Gatwick’s North Terminal. They confirmed the detained man’s actions are not being treated as terror-related.
“Sussex officers would like to thank the public for their patience,” the force said.
The full story is developing as authorities continue their investigation.
