Police say the motive behind the savage attack is still unclear. Among the victims are a five-year-old girl and a woman in her 30s, both seriously hurt and receiving hospital treatment. Also injured were a five-year-old boy, a six-year-old girl, and a man in his 50s, all with less severe wounds, according to Sergeant Geraghty.

Tensions exploded as riot officers struggled to control enraged demonstrators. Tempers boiled over when a car was set ablaze in the city centre, feeding the fury over the “appalling attack.” Violent protesters clashed with police, hurling bottles and launching physical assaults.

The injured were rushed to hospitals across Dublin shortly after 1:30pm. A Garda public order unit has been deployed to restore calm. The situation remains tense, with a police vehicle also set on fire near Parnell Square. Authorities are investigating and urging anyone with information to come forward as they hunt for answers.
