Firefighters Hospitalised After Firework Thrown Through Southampton Fire Station Window
Chaos erupted last night when a lit firework was hurled through the window of Southampton Fire Station, sending two brave firefighters to hospital. Thankfully, they were released later the same night and are now receiving support. Police have launched an investigation into this reckless attack.
Fire Chief Condemns Dangerous Act
Dan Tasker, Assistant Director of Operations at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, slammed the incident:
“The consequences of this deeply unpleasant incident could have been much worse and we’re thankful that our firefighters were not seriously injured. They are both being supported and we urge anyone with any information to contact the police. Our job is to protect our communities and we know most people understand and respect that. But attacks on our people will never be tolerated and will always be reported to the police.”
Bonfire Night Warning: Don’t Play With Fireworks
With Bonfire Night just around the corner, Tasker issued a strong warning to the public:
“Fireworks are explosives and can cause real and lasting damage. Please talk to your children about where they are and what they are doing. If you see or experience anyone behaving recklessly with fireworks, please report it to the police immediately.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Police are investigating the attack at Redbridge and urge anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses or anyone who knows who is responsible should report it online or call 101, quoting reference number 44220443014.
