Planning Your Own Firework Display? Play It Safe!
- Buy fireworks only from legitimate, licensed retailers.
- It’s illegal to sell fireworks to anyone under 18.
- Under 18s can’t have fireworks in public places – it’s against the law.
- Never throw or set off fireworks in the street, on roads, or public areas.
- Fireworks must NOT be lit after midnight on Bonfire Night.
- Get caught causing a nuisance? You face an instant fine, and any fireworks found with under 18s will be confiscated.
- Never use petrol or any accelerant to start your bonfire – it’s dangerous.
- Be a good neighbour: always give them a heads-up if you’re setting off fireworks.
- Only use fireworks that meet British Standard 7114 or European equivalents.
