Wiltshire Police Boosted with Record Officer Recruitment
Record Numbers Join Wiltshire Police
Wiltshire Police has hit its highest officer count since 2010, thanks to the government’s ambitious Police Uplift Programme. The scheme aims to add 20,000 extra officers nationwide by March 2023, and Wiltshire is reaping the rewards.
More Officers, More Visible Policing
The government proudly announced it’s surpassed 123% of the recruitment target for Wiltshire. This surge means more boots on the ground, delivering the visible community policing the public demand. These extra officers are set to stabilise neighbourhood teams and boost local crime-fighting efforts.
New Command Structure Targets Community Issues
A fresh command structure will enable local inspectors to deploy resources swiftly to tackle problems as they arise. This approach promises tangible improvements tailored to community needs.
“Once fully trained, these extra officers will enable Wiltshire Police to provide more stability in its neighbourhood teams,” said a spokesperson. “Both the Chief Constable and I remain committed to delivering a quality policing service that meets community needs, tackles the crimes that matter, and supports the vulnerable.”
