Portsmouth Woman Attacked with Wooden Club in Broad Daylight
Police are hunting witnesses after a 24-year-old woman was seriously hurt during an assault in Portsmouth. The attack happened between 10.05pm and 10.25pm on Wednesday, 18 October, as the victim and a 43-year-old man strolled along Lake Road.
Violent Attack Caught on Street
A group of young men approached the pair, sparking a confrontation that spilled down Lake Road to the junction of Church Street and Alexandra Road. There, the woman was struck on the head with a piece of wood by one of the attackers.
She was rushed to QA Hospital where she received treatment for head injuries requiring stitches.
Police Describe Suspect
The suspect carrying the wooden weapon is described as:
- White male
- Slim build
- Between 15 and 18 years old
- About 5ft 5in tall
- Short dark brown hair with a fringe
- Dark eyes
- Wearing a blue jumper, dark grey jogging bottoms, and dark trainers
Call for Witnesses
Detective Constable Emily Dummer from Fratton CID urged locals to come forward:
“We are appealing for witnesses to help us understand what happened during this assault that left a woman needing stitches. It happened across multiple roads in the Lake Road, Alexandra Road, Church Street and 1 Street area of Portsmouth.”
“We believe several cars passed through at the time, so anyone who saw or heard anything is asked to get in touch.”
