Buses Under Attack in West Kingsdown: Windows Smashed in Shocking Spate
West Kingsdown has been hit by a string of brazen attacks on buses over the past week. Kent Police are hunting for witnesses after three buses suffered window damage in a series of reckless incidents.
Pedestrian Smashes Windscreen with Pole
On Thursday 31 October at around 7.35pm, a pedestrian on London Road allegedly struck a passing bus with a pole or large stick, shattering the windscreen. The shocking act caused major alarm for passengers and drivers alike.
Catapults Used in Two More Attacks
Just days later, on Monday 4 November, two more incidents rocked the area. At 4.55pm in Fawkham Road and again at 5.45pm in Hever Road, objects believed to have been fired from catapults smashed bus windows, adding to the chaos.
Police Crackdown Underway
“It is only through luck these reckless acts haven’t caused serious injury or worse,” said Inspector Mark Stubberfield of the Sevenoaks Community Safety Unit.
“The damage has hit the bus company’s finances hard and forced changes to routes and service withdrawals. Patrols have been stepped up and we’re reviewing CCTV footage to catch those responsible.”
“We will use every power available to hold the offenders to account and deliver justice.”
Residents are urged to report suspicious behaviour immediately. Call 101 with information or dial 999 if you witness a crime in progress. Give details to West Kent Police on 01622 604100 quoting reference 46/212511/19.
