“He might be dead but he is not gone,” said Mary Bent, mourning her son Jason Bent, who was tragically killed by an HGV on Peckham High Street, South East London.
Jason Bent Dies at Scene After Collision
Jason Bent, 48, a father of one, was hit by a bulk HGV near Burger King and died instantly. Witnesses tried desperately to lift the lorry off Jason, who was conscious but severely injured after the crash.
Family Pay Emotional Tribute
Known as a cheeky, popular local, Jason was on his way to a job centre interview when the tragedy struck. His sister Teresa said, “He was a good man. He left with my mum and was heading for a job interview when he was hit.”
Mary Bent broke down at the scene, supported by grieving family. She recalled, “I called him back from the window and said goodbye, told him to look after himself. It was as if I knew something was going to happen. He might be dead but he’ll never be gone.”
